Obituary
We record with sorrow the sudden tragic death of Adrian Hutchings at the age of forty-four. He lived in the village all his life. Our deepest sympathy goes out to his sisters, Jackie and Caroline, and to all the rest of his family.
The Vicar's Letter
I thought that the recent Floral Remembrance and Art Exhibition in Gaydon was a great success and would like to say thank you to Jane Goldsmith, whose idea it was, and all the people who helped.
It brought beauty, colour and creativity into our village; it helped us remember loved ones whom we see no longer but still remember and love; we heard lovely music from Jo and Alastair and had a fantastic morning service where we were joined by friends from Fenny Compton; we saw an artist at work and were able to understand Brian'’s techniques; and met some of the people who exhibited their work.
Lots of people from the group of parishes supported the event and it was a foretaste of what we can do together. Please note future social events and reciprocate by supporting the events not just in Gaydon but throughout the group of parishes.
Pastoral Ministry
To arrange baptisms, marriages, visits at home or in hospital, the Sacrament of Reconciliation or for any other pastoral matter, please contact the Vicar on 01295 770400 or email philip.francis@regents.ox.ac.uk
Time for Shorter Grass?
As you will know from the attractive 'Wildlife Sanctuary' board in the churchyard, July is the month for hay-making.
The recent rains mean that there will be plenty of it - so offers of help with strimming and scything would be gratefully received.
Please speak to one of the churchwardens if you are willing to act: it's easy to talk - do join us in the centre of our village! MP

Christmas Lunch Sunday 9 December 2007
Please put the date of this year's Over Sixties' Christmas Lunch in your diaries!
It will take place on Sunday 9 December in the Village Hall.
Volunteer cooks and helpers from the village prepare and serve the food for the older inhabitants of Gaydon and Chadshunt; and it is a good occasion for getting to know fellow-villagers or catching up with old acquaintances.
Invitations will be sent out as usual in November and reminders of the date will appear in this magazine during the autumn.
Newcomers to the village or people who have not come to the Lunch before will be given the opportunity to be invited. Later in the year we shall be asking for help with the Christmas Lunch, so please do consider getting in touch when you see our next article.
Mobile Library
The van will be visiting the village on Thursdays 12th and 26th this month.

A Parish Surgery is held in the Parish Office behind the Hall on most Saturday mornings between 10 and 11am when villagers can talk to Councillors about any matters of concern.
The next Parish Council meeting will be on Tuesday 3rd July at 8pm in the Village Hall. The meetings are open to the public; District and County Councillors are usually present.
